John 19:30 NKJV
…He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
When Jesus said it is finished, it really is.
Everything pertaining to our lives has been finished at the cross.
Here comes the temptation:
‘But look! There are things that are not done. The dishes are not washed, my boss demands of me, my family needs me, covid is here, more people needs to be saved!’
The demands may seem endless and burdensome, Yet it is finished.
How can this be so?
Well, Jesus lived in the realm of ‘Finished’.
When 5000 people needed to be fed (demand) and there was little fish and bread available, He did not look to the natural. Instead, He saw the supernatural (inexhaustible supply of the Father), and the people were fed with basketful leftovers!
Jesus saw the finished work even before it physically manifested!
Abba wants us to be in this realm of ‘finished’:
– We pray from victory, not for victory.
– We are forgiven instead of trying to be forgiven.
– We reckon ourselves healed instead of trying to be healed.
– We enforce satan’s defeat instead of trying to defeat satan.
– We see Jesus’s over-supply for every demand.
In other words, we ‘do’ knowing it is ‘done’.
Even better, we ‘enjoy’ because it is ‘finished’.
Believing in the finished work is a life of rest. When we go about our day knowing that everything has been accomplished by Jesus, what is left is a life not striving, nor stressful, but restful.
Truly, when we are ‘trying to finish’, it doesn’t work.
Only Jesus’s ‘finished work’ works!
Amen!
