Isaiah 53:5b NKJV
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
The Hebrew word for ‘peace’ is shalom, which is such a rich word.
It means completeness, soundness, welfare, safety, health and peace.
Jesus is so interested in our entire wellbeing that He went through the chastisement (discipline of God) for our sake, so that it is our divine right to possess His gift of shalom peace.
We may feel alone, as if God doesn’t care. Or it may feel like the days of our lives are gloomy and without hope or purpose. Or it could be that nagging worry that keeps on tormenting our minds.
Does God care about all these things? Yes He does! He cares for our wellbeing way beyond our ability to comprehend!
What do you mean, JK? I’ve been struggling all my life! I’ve had bad/dark thoughts nobody wants to know about! I can’t find my breakthrough from a past trauma!
Yes, the enemy may try to appear like a roaring lion to mess with our minds. However, he is powerless and already a defeated foe 🙂
See, at the cross, Jesus Himself was crucified on a hill called Calvary, also known as Golgotha (the place of skull). ‘The place of skull’ is a picture of death in the mind. Jesus finished His work right above it, His blood redeeming us from any destructive thought life.
What a picture of Jesus crushing Satan’s head (skull) under His feet, crushing every destructive, depressive thoughts, so that we can possess His shalom peace!
No wonder before Jesus went to the cross, He said to His disciples:
‘Peace (shalom) I leave with you, My peace (shalom) I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.’ (John 14:27)
My friends, let not our hearts be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Jesus’s work is finished.
We are victorious in Him.
Today, let us know for sure that we can reject all dark, negative, depressive thoughts.
We reject them and receive our God-given portion – His shalom peace.
Let us possess His shalom!
Amen!
